A Label To Watch Out For: Marimodo For IDOL Magazine

Tuesday, October 23, 2012 - 22:13
Founded by Angel Salti in 2008, London-based, cutting edge design label Marimodo entices you with its fusion of European elegance and Asian influence. The designs show low key elements of luxury with an elegant and sartorial touch.
The design label has recently made its debut in Spring/Summer 2012. A striking mix of urban noir evening wear, with billowing silk silhouettes of chiffon dresses in soft shades of lilacs, blues and burgundy. As well as black paired with the complimentary daffodil in the form of a tailored blazer and abstract centre pattern shift dress. Not to mention tailored separates in gorgeous wet-look, shimmering golden silk or black pencil skirt, teamed with a  pastel silk shirt. This subtle palete of timeless colours gives the collection the upmost sophistication and the gentle textures give the pieces a glimmer of insouciance.
This season, Marimodo are currently showing their Autumn/Winter 2012 collection. There is something bewitching and raw about this collection. The model stands with an alabaster complexion,  whilst  velvet, lace, sheers and fur create a rich, gothic, oriental inspired ensembles in hues of ox-blood,  plum, off-white and ebony, giving the collection a dark elegance.

SARAH FORSYTH BOUTIQUE LAUNCH

SARAH FORSYTH EVENT LAUNCH

Yesterday evening saw the spring/summer 2013 collection launch at the Sarah Forsyth Boutique, on Kings Road, Chelsea. All I can say is get ready to dazzle with vibrant hues of fuchsia, rouge, turquoise, neutrals and shimmering metallics , all n the form of snakeskin clutches.
Not to mention the  gorgeous  fringed handbags and black, bold feather purses- giving the collection a definite boho chic flare. My personal favourite was a black suede with snakeskin gold fastening – giving the clutch a stylish touch. Low key elements of luxury, with a glamorous edge.
After seeing the gorgeous and flamboyant collection, the evening was followed by Beaufort House, Kings Road, Chelsea, where discussions of the launch continued over a few glasses of  free white wine and guests were given goodie bags with a little snakeskin surprise.
Here I managed to grab a moment with the designer, Sarah Forsyth who told me of her inspirations for the collection, “Some of my inspiration was taken from the vibrant colours of Andy Warhol’s pop art and Tuscany. The collection is eclectic and obtainable. I wanted to create a collection that was all real skins but priced so that it is accessible for young girls”.  It’s refreshing to hear a designer who wants to create pieces that don’t have an totally outrageous price tag.
Pick your shade, whether you prefer a  natural coloured snakeskin, or a shimmering, colour-popping, two tone piece, there really is something in this collection for everyone- it’s affordable too!

Goth Clad

With Halloween coming up this time of year it's a good excuse to dress that one shade darker. I never tend to dress all black as I don't think it suits me personally, but I would love to pair any of these gorgeous goth beauties with a trim of fur, burgundy jeans or a colourful, chunky knit jumper.

I just love the vertigo chanel nail polish and that lipstick by Rimmel, Kate Moss (although I haven't seen it in any drug stores as of yet), Those cross earrings would also give any outfit a glamorous edge! Let me know what you think :).

Picture This: My Weekend

After a hectic couple of weeks, getting back into the swing of uni life, you know the usual penny scrimping, going out drinking days of being a student. I really felt as though I needed a weekend back in the luxury of my family home. Home-cooking, bubble baths and a big comfy bed are just a few of the things I love to luxuriate in when back at home. As well as to see my lovely family and Alfie the dog. Here are just a few photos I took during my stay...just looking at them makes me wish I was home!

Mums food is so good. Yumiest salad ever.

Chilled: interneting, mmm salad, reading mags,  cup of tea for me.

The most delicous cupcakes from my lovely next door neighbour.
